Angel House Preschool and Child Care Center was developed in 1987 to serve the community of Sioux City and the surrounding areas. In 2001 Angel House opened a second location, Angel House Child Care at Villa Maria.
Angel House Preschool and Child Care will provide experiences to promote each child’s spiritual, emotional, social, physical, and educational growth within a Christian-based environment.

Angel House participates in the Iowa Preschool Initiative at both of our locations. The Sioux City Preschool Initiative is a partnership of the Sioux City Community School district and area preschool providers organized to provide quality preschool programming. Children in the Preschool Initiative must be 4 years old on or before September 15 and reside in Iowa. The children are taught by an Iowa licensed teacher who is certified in Early Childhood. The classroom assistant must also meet educational requirements.
Angel House is meeting the goals of the Iowa Preschool Initiative and the Iowa Department of Education. Besides using Creative Curriculum, we verify that our lesson plans follow the Iowa Early Learning Standards. We evaluate the children’s progress three times a year with a nationally known assessment tool called Gold Assessment as well as with our Angel House report card. We participate in Quality Preschool Program Standards. Our staff is involved in staff development programs and participates in early childhood large group meetings.
Creative Curriculum is used in all of our classrooms. Learning centers emphasize specific skills and content in language and literacy, math, art and creative expression, health and safety, science, social studies, and technology. Language development is stimulated through educational games, songs, finger plays, calendar, books and stories, and religion time. Gross and fine motor activities are implemented in the program. Music and dance is incorporated into the daily routine. Children are able to choose from centers to practice skills and explore their interests.
Angel House also incorporates a Christian-based religious curriculum. The religion curriculum teaches Bible stories and songs, and provides activities which develop social values such as community, kindness, forgiveness, empathy, compassion, love and acceptance for all people. Children practice various prayers before each mealtime.
A daily schedule is predictable, flexible, and adaptable to meet the individual needs of the children. The schedule and curriculum allow time for indoor and outdoor experiences, active and quiet activities, and allow for group interaction and individual time.
